Event Overview
The Silent Night Run and Gun is a night-time tactical biathlon at 17 South Rod and Gun Club. Competitors will engage 4–5 stages using white light and night vision gear (NVGs) while navigating a challenging course under low-light conditions.
This event follows the same principles as the traditional Run and Gun—testing participants’ physical fitness, shooting skill, and gear management—but with an added twist: the darkness.
Course of Fire
- Stages: 4–5 total stages
- Lighting: White light and NVGs permitted
- Targets: Steel targets (no tracers, armor-piercing, or steel-core rounds like M855)
- Expected Range: Rifles 100–350 yards, pistols up to 50 yards
- Round Count: Approx. 55 rifle / 75 pistol
- Rules: Rifles and pistols will be carried unloaded on a cold range until instructed by an RSO to “load and make ready.”
Required Equipment
- Centerfire rifle and pistol
- Eye and ear protection
- Secure holster that covers the trigger guard
- Sufficient ammunition
- Stopwatch or timer
- Water and headlamp (recommended)
- Any preferred method for carrying gear (vest, belt, backpack, etc.)
Note: Magnum calibers are not allowed. Rifle and pistol must each fire appropriate calibers (no PCC).
Safety & Conduct
- All participants must attend a mandatory safety brief before starting.
- Cold range operation: firearms are only loaded on command from the RSO.
- Basic firearm safety is enforced at all times.
